Houston Roofing Repair FAQs
Will my insurance company pay for roofing repair?
Houston homeowners ask us this question all the time and the answer is as varied as the repairs we make. While “it depends” may seem like a wishy-washy answer, it’s true: it depends. One of the biggest variables is your insurance deductible. For example, if your insurance deductible is $500 but the roofing repair costs just $200, the insurance won’t pay because the damage is extensive enough to warrant filing a claim. The next variable is whether the roof damage was caused by an event covered by your insurance policy. For instance, if the roof needs to be repaired because a tree crashed through your house, then the roof damage would likely be covered and your insurance would pay for any repairs over and beyond your insurance deductible. On the other hand, if the roof is simply old and leaky, it’s doubtful that your insurance company will agree to pay for roof repairs (though it may pay for resulting water damage to the home’s contents).
My insurance company won’t pay for roof repairs, yet it will pay to replace the water-damaged furnishings. Why?
It sounds as though the roof leak itself wasn’t covered by the policy, yet the damage resulting from the leak was. This tends to happen when a roof leak is due to a home maintenance issue rather than an unexpected event. For example, if your roof is over 40 years old and is simply past its prime, your insurance won’t pay for a roof replacement as that’s a home maintenance issue. However, it may cover the water damage that results from a roof leak.
Do you perform structural roofing repairs?
Yes. Whether your Houston roof is leaking, sagging, or even missing, we are a full service roofing company that can handle any roofing job you may have for us.
Do you repair commercial roofs, too?
Yes, we offer both residential and commercial roofing repair in Houston.
How fast can you get out to my home if a hurricane blows off my roof?
While we do offer emergency roofing repair services, the safety of our roofing crews and customers is of utmost importance to us. We dispatch emergency work crews only when it is safe to do so. That is, if the hurricane is still battering Houston, we’re still hunkered down. Once conditions are safe, our crews begin preparing for the roofing jobs ahead of us.
